Sharon, Brian and Thomas will continue to honor Jim's memory and strive to keep the horse shows running smoothly and efficiently in order to keep all the competitors, trainers and their supporters happy. This was Jim's dream and passion which he has passed on to us.
In order to recognize and reward our exhibitors, we will again be presenting the Grand and Reserve Champion awards for each series. The horse shows will be divided into three different series: Spring, Summer and Fall; each series having a separate prize lists, time schedule, and special events. Each series will then tally the competitors' points and present the champions for each division in that series. You will find the specifications in each series prize list.
In addition, Our premier annual charity event, the Winner’s Circle Charity Show, will be held on July 9th for the benefit of Little Shelter Animal Rescue in Huntington and will feature an individual prize list, raffles, and Champion Awards for each division. This horse show was started in honor of Virginia Rice who as part of the Rice Family, was a large part of the horse community. Little Shelter was one of her favorite charities and we will continue to follow in her footsteps by giving back to the community.
As always, we strive to offer our exhibitors a wonderful horse show experience and, with that goal in mind, we review the previous years and make improvements and changes the upcoming year. We will continue to offer Opportunity Classes in each series and have moved several divisions to new spots in the time schedule to improve the showing experience for all exhibitors. In addition to some of our changes, USEF and LIHSAA have enacted changes to points system and divisions which may impact exhibitors and we urge everyone to get acquainted with those changes in advance of showing. The changes can be accessed on the organizations’ websites and will be reflected in all our prize lists.
In our continued commitment to safety, and for the comfort and safety of our exhibitors and their horses during schooling, schooling in all competition and schooling rings will be carefully monitored. All riders must wear the appropriate equipment and will be asked to wear their back numbers and riders who have not entered the competition may not school.
We are in full gear preparing for a great 2018 season – readying the jumps and enhancements, ordering the ribbons and awards and prepping the equipment and rings. We look forward to sharing it with all and wish everyone Happy Showing!
